About me.

Shifra Cooper is an educator, choral conductor and community artist, holding a Masters of Teaching degree from OISE (U of T). She completed a Honours Bachelors of Arts at the University of Toronto, graduating with high distinction, and has worked with children, families and people of all ages for ten years as a community-engaged arts facilitator and choral conductor.

Teaching Experience.

Shifra’s teaching practice grows out of extensive experience as a workshop facilitator, arts educator, classroom teacher, and private tutor. Her teaching philosophy is uniquely grounded in inclusive community-engaged approaches which bring together art, music and experiential education to build and foster community.

Choral Direction.

Shifra is an accomplished community choir conductor, with a passion for creating inclusive singing environments for people of all musical abilities. Under her direction, the intergenerational community choir, The Gather Round Singers, has performed at venues across Toronto, and grown to include over forty singers.

Creative Technology.

A commitment to building connection and critical literacy through creative digital technology strengthens Shifra’s dedication to staying up-to-date with technological tools and resources, in order to creatively provide learners with engaging, hands-on, inquiry-driven learning experience.
